From 9 September 2024, there will no longer be a doctor's fee in England and Wales when arranging a funeral. This is because from this date, all deaths in England and Wales will be independently viewed, either by a relevant coroner or by a Medical Examiner and the cost will be met by the NHS.
A Medical Examiner is a specifically trained independent senior doctor who will scrutinise all deaths across a local area that do not fall under the coroner's jurisdiction. By providing a greater level of scrutiny over the cause of deaths; it is hoped that the introduction of Medical Examiners will make it less likely that unnatural causes of death will go unnoticed; that the number of deaths unnecessarily referred to the coroner will be reduced and that national data about causes of death will be captured with greater accuracy.
Medical Examiners, or Medical Examiner Officers, will also be available to meet with families, or their representatives, if they wish to discuss the cause of death.

I couldn’t give this funeral home enough credit for what they have done for me and my family at such a sad time that no one should ever have to go through . My little baby girl Josie passed away suddenly at 28 days old Neil and Katie and everyone at there main branch have looked after myself and my baby Josie with so much respect and love they went above and beyond for Josie and I could never thank them enough for giving her the best send off and showed so much love that she deserved . I couldn’t of wished for anyone else to care for my little girl and help lay her to rest. Neil and Katie you should be so proud of what you done for my Josie and I hope you have a smile on your face when you think of her and the amazing day she had that was down to yourselves . Once again I could not recommend better people to care for your loved ones in such a sad time.
Thank you again Neil Katie and the rest of the team
