You don't have to make an appointment at our funeral homes. However, doing so will ensure that someone can be available to cater to your needs. When arranging a funeral, our Funeral Directors are happy to visit you in your own home, if required.

Third party funeral costs are additional charges which we will manage for you and attach to your single invoice. Get in touch with us to confirm costs and plan a funeral to fit your budget.

If you choose to arrange the funeral with us, you will be given the option of a complimentary Funeral Notice. We will set it up for you using the details discussed during the arrangements. All we need is an email address.

From 9 September 2024, there will no longer be a doctor's fee in England and Wales when arranging a funeral. This is because from this date, all deaths in England and Wales will be independently viewed, either by a relevant coroner or by a Medical Examiner and the cost will be met by the NHS.

A Medical Examiner is a specifically trained independent senior doctor who will scrutinise all deaths across a local area that do not fall under the coroner's jurisdiction. By providing a greater level of scrutiny over the cause of deaths; it is hoped that the introduction of Medical Examiners will make it less likely that unnatural causes of death will go unnoticed; that the number of deaths unnecessarily referred to the coroner will be reduced and that national data about causes of death will be captured with greater accuracy.

Medical Examiners, or Medical Examiner Officers, will also be available to meet with families, or their representatives, if they wish to discuss the cause of death.

As a celebrant it has been an honour to conduct funeral services on behalf of J&A Porters. The funeral directors are extremely friendly, caring, understanding and empathetic, at such a very sad time.

J and A Porter cared for my mum after she passed. We received nothing but amazing service from start to finish, we couldn’t fault the dignity that they provided for our loved one. I would highly recommend them to anyone.. nothing was too much trouble and the respect that came with the service was second to none. Derek especially went above and beyond answering all my questions. All the staff that we met were very kind and friendly and the chapels were so lovely inside. Morning was too much trouble. Thank you so much for all your help in this difficult time .. many thanks from the Cowell/ Shorrock / Crompton families ❤️

The experience we had with the staff of J.& A. Porter was second to none. They were considerate, caring and thoughtful. At a time when we’re struggling emotionally they understood perfectly how we felt and catered for that situation. We would recommend this company to anyone, once again many thanks to J.& A. Porter for their care and consideration. Eternally grateful Steven Cowell and family.

After a family bereavement we had the experience of working with J. & A. Porter Funeral Directors in Lytham St Annes. Right from the offset in our dealings with them, we were met with compassion, professionalism and genuine care.

The staff ( with a particular mention to Becky and Chloe) were incredibly supportive, guiding us through every step of the process with sensitivity and understanding. They took the time to listen to our wishes and helped us create a service that truly honoured our loved one’s life.Their ability to balance professionalism with a personal touch coupled with the guidance and support provided, made an overwhelming situation a little easier to navigate.

Many thanks to all at J&A Porter, your contribution both prior and on the day of the funeral is greatly appreciated.
